February 2008
Last Month I was surprised and pleased to get a visit from Luke and Robyn Holmes, now from Southland. Luke bought the very first quarter horse I bred, S. Cracker. He and Robyn roped and barrel raced Cracker, before eventually trading him to Bedford family as a youth horse. I thought they had come to socialise, baby worship and generally talk horses, but was delighted when we struck a deal on S. Spun Silks new foal. After weaning, he will be heading south, and in due time will stand as a colt in his new home.
It was interesting to catch up with the new owners of S. Copper Lynx, Ange and Ollie Nicholas. Copper Lynx was sold to the Waiarapa, but has now returned to the Bay. Hopefuly we will see her and her, as yet unborn foal, at the Western Riding Club days in the furture.I saw with interest that Copper Lynx's full sister, S. Dawn Lynx, was recently advertised on Trade Me and subsequently sold privately. I was lucky to come across a photo with the new owner in a Photo display on the Net. Horse and rider looked like a good looking and happy match.
