Quarter Lena
(Roc) was bred by Cathy Marsh in Queensland in 2002. He was brought to New Zealand by Wayne Baker. Settenna bought him as a two year old and his first progeny arrived in 2006. As Roc was born palomino, he carries the dilute gene, which can produce palomino and buckskin colouring. He is heterozygous for the greying gene.We were concerned as his breeding showed a strong potential for the defective gene carrying
HERDA
. A hair sample was sent to UC Davis for testing and we were very relieved to have the results showing that he is not a carrier. We look forward to seeing his youngsters develop over the years.
